Atlanta-based progressive metal giants MASTODON have unveiled their powerful new single, **“Your Ghost Again,”** a deeply personal composition born from one of the most challenging periods in the band's history. The song reflects on grief, loss, and remembrance, drawing inspiration from the death of former guitarist Brent Hinds and the passing of drummer Brann Dailor’s mother.

Musically, “Your Ghost Again” blends the band's trademark heavy riffs with soaring melodies and atmospheric textures. Vocal duties are shared by bassist Troy Sanders and drummer Brann Dailor, while guitarists Bill Kelliher and newcomer Nick Johnston provide a dynamic mix of crushing heaviness and emotional depth. Keyboard contributions from João Nogueira further enhance the song’s cinematic atmosphere.

Produced by Patrik Berger and Kurt Ballou and mixed by acclaimed engineer Andrew Scheps, the track serves as an early glimpse into MASTODON’s forthcoming studio album, which is currently nearing completion.

Speaking about the song’s meaning, Dailor explained that the lyrics were inspired by the experience of losing people who have been part of one’s life for decades. He described moments of unexpectedly “seeing” loved ones in familiar places, only to be reminded that they are gone. During the recording sessions, he often imagined Brent Hinds standing beside him in the studio, just as he had for years. Similar memories of his mother also found their way into the songwriting process, ultimately shaping the emotional core of the track.

Alongside the single release, MASTODON has announced **“The Poisonous Weapons Tour,”** a North American headlining trek featuring support from DEAFHEAVEN and ALCEST. The tour will begin on September 16 in Orlando, Florida, and conclude on October 24 at Sick New World Dallas.
