Deftones Tease New Music Release Slated for July 10, 2025

After much anticipation, Deftones have finally dropped a substantial hint about their upcoming release. The band recently shared a mysterious digital sign on Instagram featuring the phrase Private Music and the Roman numerals X.VII.MMXXV. Interpreted in European date format, this likely points to a release on July 10, 2025—mark your calendars.

While the band remains tight-lipped about most details, we do know that Nick Raskulinecz—whose production credits include Alice In Chains and Foo Fighters—has taken the helm for the new album. Guitarist Stephen Carpenter, speaking in a 2024 interview on B-Real’s Dr. Greenthumb Show, hinted that the sound of the record draws heavily from Koi No Yokan and Ohms. Notably absent from his commentary was any mention of 2016’s Gore—a detail some fans may find telling.

“I'd say it feels like a natural extension of Ohms and Koi,” Carpenter remarked. “You’ll definitely hear the essence of Deftones, but also some elements that might surprise even longtime listeners.”

As for whether frontman Chino Moreno incorporates any rapping on the record, Carpenter remained vague: “He’s always evolving his style—switching things up while staying true to what he does best. It’s actually really cool.”

Meanwhile, Deftones have already announced an extensive tour schedule for 2025, with performances lined up across Europe and North America. Highlights include festival appearances and arena shows with special guests like Phantogram, IDLES, and System Of A Down.
